Food Drive 2017

Dear TBS Congregants and Guests,

Our temple has a long tradition of gathering food during the High Holy Days and this year is no exception. Donating food is a way for us to make the world a better place–Tikkun Olam. The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is the recipient of our collection and they are very grateful.

For those who would like to give a food donation, grocery bags will be distributed during Rosh Hashanah, so that you may bring food items back on Kol Nidre. Food donations will be gathered downstairs in the social hall. The six most needed items are boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned vegetables, canned beef stew and canned soup. Other canned meats, dry goods, pasta, rice and beans, cleaning supplies and paper products are also welcome.

For those who would prefer to give a monetary donation, cash and checks are most welcome by the Food Bank. Please address your check to Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and drop your check into the decorated box on the table at the entry of the sanctuary.

Last year we collected a significant amount of food and monetary donations. The food, in conjunction with the financial donations that we collected, provided about 7,400 meals for those in need. For every $1 donated, the Foodbank can provide 4 meals for those in need–or for every 1 pound donated, the Foodbank can provide 1.2 meals.
