Book talk at Mandel JCC

Einstein: His Space and TimeDear Friends,

One of my oldest and dearest friends, Steven Gimbel (whom I have known since the first day of 7th grade, shortly after my family moved to Baltimore) is coming to Cleveland next week to give a talk about his book, “Einstein: His Space and Times” (his second biography of Einstein, the first being “Einstein’s Jewish Science: Physics at the Intersection of Politics and Religion”) as part of the Mandel JCC’s Jewish Book Month programming. I am writing to invite all of you to join me at what is certain to be an informative — and entertaining — lecture. Steve describes his position at Gettysburg College as “stand-up philosopher,” (or sometimes, “professional bullsh*tter”) and is particularly interested in the overlaps between science, philosophy, and humor. While his MA and PhD are in Philosophy (from Johns Hopkins University), he had a dual major in Physics as an undergraduate at the University of Maryland. It is not an exaggeration to say that he is one of the most intelligent, funniest, and kindest people I know.
