e-Megillah Today, 7/23, the Jewish community commemorates Tisha B’av, a day of communal mourning. We explore the spiritual process of entering a time of somber reflection and grief. Friday, 7/24 is called Shabbat Nachamu, a Shabbat of comfort after our sadness concludes. With Shabbat Nachamu we begin a 7-week preparation of inner discernment as we prepare for Rosh Hashanah. Please join us for special Shabat services Friday at 7:30. On this sad day, we hold the grief of so much that was lost this year. We are asked to move from baseless hatred of our fellows, to compassion for our fellows. May we take those first steps tomorrow. Rabbi on vacation/camp – 7/27 to 8/16

TBSSisterhood • Sisterhood enjoyed a wonderfully successful Game Night back in April and raised over $2000. Sisterhood funds have been used to purchase a new microphone for Rabbi to use during services. Additional funds are being donated to the TBS choir and for ongoing financial needs. Thank you to all of you who supported this event! It was so much fun and we are thrilled to be able to offer support to the Temple’s needs.  • Upcoming meetings and events are currently being planned and scheduled by the Sisterhood. The Social Action Committee will meet on Monday, August 3 at 5:00 pm in the TBS Boardroom. All are welcome. Check back here for registration details. • Hebrew Cultural Garden Clean-up August 23, 9:00 am (weather permitting) – 1160 East Blvd., Cleveland. Help with new plantings, pulling weeds and raking leaves. There are ferns to thin around the fountain and replant them on the northern side of the hill. Rakes, clippers, and shovels will be needed. • Hudson Food Pantry TBS has stepped up to fulfill a need of the Hudson Food Pantry. Your monthly donations of laundry detergent have been truly appreciated by our neighbors in need. Let’s keep up the momentum! We are asking for three TBS families to donate 2 large detergents — liquid, powder, or pods — each for a total of 6 per month. Families can sign up for a single month or multiple months.  The TBS library is open for business. Please borrow the books of your choice. Return them, pass them on, donate a different book back. Thank you for your continued donations. Mark your calendars for Saturday August 1. Susan Busch, Art Busch’s wife, will be at the Learned Owl book shop signing copies of her novel, Chance at Life from 11am-1pm. She’s a nurse practitioner who wrote this medical fiction novel about a Jewish nurse encountering the resilience, sorrows, deep bonds, and laughter found among the regulars in a chronic dialysis unit.
