Passover Message 2016

Dear Temple Beth Shalom member,

Passover will soon be here! We embrace history, renewal, freedom and Jewish gastronomy! We also remember that the Haggadah asks us to invite all who are hungry to come and eat. So, Passover is also a time to consider giving tzedakah to those in need. Please consider giving a donation one of the organizations listed below.

MAZON gathers donations and offers direct help as well as grants and education programs. In their own words, from their website, “Mazon is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and alleviating hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds. MAZON, which means “food” or “sustenance” in Hebrew, was the first national organization to rally the American Jewish community around the issue of hunger, and remains the only national Jewish organization dedicated exclusively to that same cause. Their organization’s approach symbolizes our desire to embody twin Jewish ideals: “tzedakah and tikkun olam.” MAZON suggests donating an amount of what it might cost for one additional guest at your seder. You may donate online at MAZON.org or mail your donation to MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, P.O. Box 96119, Washington D.C. 20090.

You could also consider a donation to our own Temple Beth Shalom in honor of Passover. A donation above and beyond your membership is a way to sustain our Temple which offers many opportunities for education. (For those who are “hungry” for knowledge!) Our religious school education and our adult education offer many opportunities to learn more about our religion, prayer and holidays. We also have other opportunities to give to special causes, such as the Mary Krupp Camp and Israel Fund, the Betsy Rosenwasser Caring Heart Fund, Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund, Building Maintenance Fund, and Social Action Fund, just to name a few. If you choose to give to Temple, please feel free to donate to your favorite cause. You may use one of our donation envelopes or mail your donation to Temple Beth Shalom, PO Box 2230, Hudson, Ohio 44236. It is also now possible to make your donations online at http://tbshudson.org/duesfeesdonations. Thank you for your consideration.

Wishing you an enjoyable Passover season.

Sincerely,

Kim Strausser
