Message from the Education Director 8/3/2013

August 3, 2013

Dear Parents and Friends,

This fall, Temple Beth Shalom Religious School will again provide Jewish education to our children, ages preschool through eighth grade.

We have some exciting new changes happening in our school this year! I am very pleased to be serving in the capacity of Education Director this year. Some new faculty will be joining us, and some familiar faces will be taking on new roles. We have a new Hebrew curriculum for all grades, and a brand-new program for our post-B’nai Mitzvah students.

“Gesher,” a new class for grades 7-8, will be taught in a “Lunch and Learn” format on selected Sunday afternoons, led by our own Oudi Singer. This course will also include the city-wide overnight “Members of the Tribe” workshop and retreat, and a field trip to see “Yentl” at Cleveland Play House.

Students in grades 9-12 who are interested in working with our younger students can register for our new “Machar” program, which will incorporate volunteer opportunities with leadership training.

The first day of school is Sunday, August 25 (except Pre-K). The schedule of courses is as follows:

Pre-K meets on selected Sundays from 10-11
Grades K-6 meet on Sundays from 9-12
Grades 3-6 also meet on Thursdays from 4:30-6:00
Grades 7-8 meet on selected Sundays from 12-2

The full school schedule is attached, and is also available on our website's calendar page.

We are going to use Google Forms for online registration this year. Please use this link to register: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1V9jVJ1KBohaMfHIrTPvOggh5_vtdr64EA7LTJ6NwW18/viewform

If you prefer paper, registration forms, they are available for download on our website below.

Whether you register on paper or online, please complete the payment form and mail it to Temple Beth Shalom Religious School, PO Box 2230, Hudson, Ohio 44236 with the appropriate fees (please make checks payable to Temple Beth Shalom). The registration fee of $30 per family is waived if tuition is paid in full by September 1, 2013.

Please share our information regarding Hebrew School with your family and friends who may be interested in enrolling their children in our program. We would like to extend a welcome to unaffiliated families of young children. If an unaffiliated family would like to enroll their children in our Training Wheels or Mechina class, they may do so for one year without affiliating with TBS by paying the regular Religious School tuition, registration and fees. This policy only applies to children in pre-K through Second Grade.

Your prompt registration and payment are greatly appreciated. If you have questions about Religious School, or would like to join the Religious School Committee, please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 330-752-3349.

L’Shalom,

From the Cantorial Soloist

Preschool and school-age children often get their best introduction to Jewish life through music! TBS Cantorial Soloist Robin Selinger has designed the website Totshabbat.com to provide children around the world with the best in fun, educational Jewish music. All songs can be streamed onto your computer, and many can be downloaded onto portable music players. Please check it out... and remember to bring young children to our Tot Shabbat services!
