Letter from Rabbi Ross
Dear TBS Friends & Family,

Today, Thursday, is Yom Ha’atzma’ut, Israel’s Independence Day. Listening to Donniel Hartman and Yossi Klein Halevi, they encouraged us in their weekly podcast to focus on gratitude and hope this year as we commemorate the day. Personally, I am brokenhearted that the hostages are still in Gaza. It’s hard to be joyful this year. And still we can all locate gratitude and hope. TBS will celebrate Israel Shabbat next Friday, 5/9.

Rabbi Brown’s Installation at Beth Israel – The West Temple – Sat. 5/3 at 9:30 am
My wife, Rabbi Rachel Brown, served as TBS education director for 5 years. She is formally being installed by her temple as their new rabbi on Saturday 5/3. Torah Study will be from 9:30 am – 11:00 am. Morning service and installation will be from 11:00 am – noon.
All are welcome to join the celebration!

TBS Torah for Our Times class will take a road trip to BITWT for the morning activities.

New Group Starting – Intro to Jewish Meditation
On Thursday, 5/15, at 7:30 pm, I will be starting a new group. I will lead an “Introduction to Jewish Meditation.”
In these chaotic days, finding a grounding practice has been invaluable for me.
We will explore basic mindfulness practices as we spiritually prepare for Shabbat.
This group will be for both beginning students and advanced students.
To start, we will meet every other week through May and June.

Religious School News
This Sunday at Religious school we will be studying the Land of Israel, the people of Israel, and the State of Israel.
We will be off on Sunday 5/11 for Mother’s Day.
Our closing day is Sunday 5/18.

CLASSES:
– Making Prayer Real – the art of prayer (Saturdays before Torah Study,
from 9:00 – 9:45 am)
– Basic Hebrew (Tuesdays at 7:00 pm)
– Torah Reading & Chanting (Fall ’25)
– Spiritual Autobiography writing (Fall ’25 or Spring ’26)

TBS Legacy Fund Update
Participation increasing!
We’re getting CLOSER!
An email was sent last week to all those who have yet to participate in our mitzvah of insuring the long-term survival of our Jewish presence here in Hudson. Please help us own our building and fund future needs well into the future.

As of this date, participation increased from 52% to 60%, great progress but still looking to get that up to 80, 90, 100%. Let’s all do our part.
Again, no contribution is too small, and our match is still happening so whatever you give will be doubled. Our total is up to 85% so let’s keep this going.

We’re almost there. Please join us in this important project. Let’s get that participation up to 100%. You can send a check to TBS, 50 Division St, Hudson, OH 44236 or donate on line through Zeffy and choose the fee down to zero.

Thank you and blessings to all,
Larry
