Letter from Rabbi Ross Dear TBS Friends and Family,
This Friday evening, we will have two special guests, students from my earlier Judaism 101 classes that have completed their studies and are prepared for their conversions – Alex Casparis and Mark Itibrout. Join us to hear their wisdom about their journeys.
This will be our last service until late August when we resume Torah For Our Times on Saturday 8/24 and on 8/30 we will have our picnic at Hudson Springs Park.
From 7/14 to 7/18, I will conclude my special rabbinic program that focuses on developing our spiritual lives and our spiritual communities. This program has been transformational for me as a spiritual reset after the pandemic.
Afterwards, Rabbi Rachel and I will drive Gabe to Camp Havaya, the Reconstructionist camp in the Poconos. After drop-off, Rachel and I will attend the Rabbis Kallah at Wildacres near Asheville, North Carolina the first week of August. Both of us will teach at Camp Havaya the second week of August.
David Siegel Unveiling
We will have an unveiling to remember David Siegel Sunday 7/21 at 1:00 pm at Markillie Cemetery, 410 N. Main Street. All are welcome.
Torah For Our Times Returns this August!
We have taken the past two years to explore Jewish prayer on Saturday mornings with “Prayer Lab.” This summer we are returning to our popular Torah study class, “Torah For Our Times.” In August and September, we will focus on High Holiday themes.
Each session will be from 9:30 am – 11:15 am. We will study Torah for about an hour or so, and then have a brief morning prayer service.
Bagels and cream cheese will be served!
Important Religious School News
We are delighted to announce that Kate Palleschi has accepted our offer to become TBS’s new education director this fall! Kate is attending the New Directors Institute this week and next week. Jean and I will guide her as she gets acquainted with the role of director. Kate has been teaching middle school for the past few years and taught our 3rd and 4th graders this past year.
Our religious school will resume classes in September.
TBS will formally welcome Deb Rogers and Kate Palleschi into our community in a special service on August 30th at Hudson Springs Park.
