Issue #640
Letter from Rabbi Ross
Dear TBS Friends and Family,
This Friday night we will have a special Q&A about Jewish campus life at Kent State. My work on campus continues to be important, unending, and exhausting. Additionally, in honor of the upcoming Veterans’ Day, we will offer a special blessing for our vets. We will also continue to offer special blessings for Israel and its hostages.
In Israel, the bright spot for me this week is the increased humanitarian access and aid that is finally taking place in Gaza. Water pipes and communication lines have also been restored. The volunteer efforts that are taking place in Israel is profoundly uniting this divided country to rally around supplying its soldiers. President Biden is now seeking a brief “time out” or pause, to allow more aid to come in and to treat the wounded.
Donations to support Israel can be made at Cleveland Federation:

NEW CLASS STARTING – Prayer Lab’s “Making Prayer Real”
Last year in the Prayer Lab our Saturday morning group explored the structure of the prayer service and learned some of the metaphors that appear in the prayers. This year, we will explore the art of Jewish prayer, and explore the stumbling blocks that might get in the way of having a meaningful prayer life.
We will read through a wonderful book, by Rabbi Mike Comins with the same name, “Making Prayer Real.” Each week we will read through a short section of the book together.
I am asking everyone to purchase the book at Amazon or Barnes and Noble. (I will provide handouts the first week or two as folks order this paperback book.)
Here’s the link:

Our second session will be Sat. 11/11. Each class is independent and can be studied on its own. All are welcome!
