Sisterhood Schmooze 2/5/2015

It’s Almost Here…

The annual Sista and Guest Night, hosted by Lisa and Rick Singer, is a sure-fire way to chase the winter blahs!

Now’s the time to sift through your recipe boxes and cookbooks to come up with something truly tasty and delicious to share with the group.

We will be gathering at the Singer’s lovely Medina home on Saturday evening, February 28th, at 6:00 p.m.

In addition to enjoying special culinary treats, we will also be treated to specialty cocktails, compliments of “Bartender Rick,” and an always wonderfully inspiring Havdalah service.

This is the foodie event of the year! For information, please contact Lisa at LisaSinger@aol.com.

Hope to see you there!

Lilith Salon

Thursday, March 12th, at 6:30 p.m., is on the calendar for our Spring Lilith Salon gathering. (Place to be determined).

This Salon will feature a discussion of the Winter 2014-2015 magazine issue.

The Lilith magazine describes itself as “Independent, Jewish & Frankly Feminist.” More information regarding this publication can be found by visiting www.lilith.org.

Sisterhood Dinner Out

The month of March will be a busy one! Please join us for our second Sisterhood Dinner Out event on Thursday, March 19th, at 7:00 p.m.

We will be gathering at The Office Bistro, located at 1846 Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls. (Not to be confused with their restaurant of the same name on North Main Street in Akron!)

Check out their delicious menu options at theofficebistro.com.

Frieda Miller-Brown will be accepting reservations at fmillerbrown@msn.com.

“Tequila and Technology”

Sisterhood is planning another exciting March event: “Tequila and Technology” will feature a discussion of Social Media and The Tent. Our WRJ guest speaker, along with the specific date, time and place will be noted later.

Passover Prep

On April 2, the sistas will be gathering at the TBS kitchen to create some special holiday treats! Please join us for the Passover 5775 “Charoset Chop!”

In addition to this traditional favorite, the sistas will also be preparing matzoh ball soup.

These culinary favorites will be enjoyed at the TBS Congregational Second Seder.

Combined Sisterhood and Brotherhood Event

Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 19th. On that day, the Sisterhood and Brotherhood will be “heading south” for a special day of touring and dining!

Visits are planned to the National Football Hall of Fame Museum and the National First Ladies Library–the former family home of Ida Sexton McKinley, both of which are located in Canton.

Following the tours, the group will meet up for a special dining adventure at the popular Gervasi Vineyard.

The Meaning of Sisterhood

Please enjoy the following words of inspiration written by Hilda R. Glazer, past WRJ Central District president:

As Sisters, we come together
Creating a brighter fire in each of us
Burning our unique flames
Like a twisted Havdallah candle
That secures its life from each individual wick.
Putting together the pieces that make us complete
When we are baking,
When we are planning,
When we are dancing,
When we are crying,
When we are helping others,
And when we link arms in sisterhood.
Our Eternal Flames shine brighter;
Our purpose is stamped through the community,
And our lives are enriched by Tikkun Olam,
Bringing the Divine that much closer to us all.

Yours in Sisterhood,
Emily Audra Fleisher
