OPPORTUNUTIES TO HELP

Akron Foor Bank Drive Extended

Dear TBS Congregants and Guests,

Did you know that there are approximately 73,510 food insecure people and 22,710 food insecure children living in Summit County?

Our temple has a long tradition of gathering food during the High Holy Days and this year is no exception. Donating food is a way for us to make the world a better place- Tikkun Olam. The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is the recipient of our collection, and they are very grateful. During the COVID pandemic, we made the decision to only accept monetary donations. This has made the choice to donate simpler, and we have decided to continue this practice.

If you wish to give a monetary donation, please visit http://give.akroncantonfoodbank.org/goto/templebethshalom

Checks are also welcome by the Foodbank. Please address your check to Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and write “Temple Beth Shalom High Holiday Food Drive” in the memo so we can track our donations. Then, mail your donation to the following address during either Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur:

Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank
350 Opportunity Parkway
Akron, OH 44307

Each $1 you donate provides 3 meals.

Your support of the Foodbank and local hunger-relief efforts could mean the difference for our neighbors in need. When every $1 donated helps provide the equivalent of 3 meals, your support can make a significant difference. In 2024, Temple Beth Shalom donated $2,003 = 6,009 meals (last year, $1=3 meals).

Thank you for your support with this important project.

L’shana tova,

Successful Winter Glove & Mitten Donation Drive

Thank you to all religious school students and TBS members who collected gloves and mittens for the Akron Snow Angels. The temple collected 75 pair of gloves & mittens to help bring warmth to those in need this holiday season. Akron Snow Angels spreads warmth and connects with the most vulnerable in our community by providing basic essentials and fostering compassionate friendships. akronsnowangels.com
