Letter from Rabbi Ross
Dear TBS friends and family,
This week I will be officiating at the wedding of Emily Axelrod Conner and Josh Conner. We honored the couple at our June service with an aufruf blessing. Susie Axelrod, our former president and Emily’s mom, spoke of her deep affection for our community, and its important role in her life.
We wish the new couple all the blessings of love, happiness, fruitfulness on their occasion of their wedding!
Next Friday, 7/16, we are having our first in-person service together in 16 months. I have been attending Saturday morning services at Congregation Shaarei Tikvah in Beachwood for the past month or so, where they have the same boundaries around in-person gatherings. I have also spoken with their medical advisors, including an epidemiologist from the Cleveland Clinic, about how we at TBS can employ best practices to keep each other safe. We will continue to consult them about our High Holiday planning for this year. We will continue to take their ideas to the re-opening committee and our board as we make decisions for the fall.
This is a special moment in our community as we take small steps in our phased reopening plans. We would love to see you next Friday evening. The service will also be on Zoom for folks who are not comfortable being in-person. This hybrid model, or multi-access model, will continue for the High Holidays as well.
