Dear TBS Friends and Family,
Temple Beth Shalom will be joining with the First Congregational Church of Hudson and the Islamic Community Center for an annual interfaith day of worship through service. Working in conjunction with other faith partners and community organizations in Akron, teams of volunteers work together for one day on a variety of projects in the North Hill neighborhood. There are projects and experiences for all ages and ability levels. In addition to traditional hands-on projects, First Serve 2023 will offer new cultural immersion experiences to help expand participants’ appreciation and understanding of the rich and vibrant cultures that make up the North Hill community of Akron.

Please join Rabbi Michael Ross and popular Song Leader Chuck Fink for the annual end of summer family cookout and musical service under the stars. Current TBS members, friends, and potential members and friends are most welcome.

Burgers, hot dogs, side dishes, and dessert provided by TBS. Vegetarian option available upon request.

AKRON PRIDE FESTIVAL
SATURDAY, AUGUST 26
This year, TBS will participate at the Akron Pride Festival in downtown Akron during the huge morning equity march and by sponsoring a booth for the day with other sponsors including Smuckers, Kent State University, Key Bank, First Energy, Akron Children’s Hospital Foundation, Goodyear, and many others. If you are interested in volunteering to march in the parade with other TBS members or to volunteer in our booth for part of the day, please contact Laurie Frankino lfrankino@gmail.com.
Calling all Blossom fans!
Would you like to join fellow TBS members for an evening at Blossom?
August 26 at 7 PM is “Impressions of France and Spain” with Simone Lamsma on violin. They’ll be playing Ravel, Saint-Saens, and Defalla. Pack a picnic and we’ll plan a place to meet to eat either on the lawn or just outside the venue before the concert. If you want to get lawn tickets, we can sit together or if you prefer the pavilion, you can eat with us and then we’ll say au revoir when the concert starts. Mike and I will likely do lawn tickets. Next year, Jeanie Rhodes will be the president of the Sisterhood. Robin Rosen-Sharp served as president for nine years and she deserves a hearty thanks. She’ll take over the Secretary-Treasurer position but would be willing for another Sister to come forward to take over these tasks.
