Letter from Rabbi Ross
Dear TBS Friends and Family,
Please join us this Friday for our next Shabbat service at TBS. This will be our final service with our guest soloist Chuck Fink, who has been a wonderful musical substitute while Robin has been in Israel. His musicality and joyful spirit have been a gift to our community. Don’t miss this final chance to sing with Chuck!
This Friday, we will talk about Tisha B’Av and the three weeks that lead up to that important date in the Jewish calendar. These three weeks are a time of mourning and reflection for our losses. The specific loss is the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. The rabbis attribute the loss of the Temple to Jews inability to get along with each other, or sinat chinam, which is translated as baseless hatred for our fellows.
We are living at a time where sinat chinam is running wild again, and we will look at ways to remedy this terrible burden.
For more info on this idea please see: https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/the-three-weeks/
By the way, I will be on vacation after Shabbat for the next few weeks. Our next service will be on Friday, 8/19, for our next summer cookout at Hudson Springs Park.

Thanks to TBS Brotherhood for providing our grill and to Brotherhood members Art Busch, Mike Miller, Harry Berman and James Field for expertly grilling our burgers and dogs. Thanks to Rabbi Michael, Rabbi Rachel, and soloist Chuck Fink for providing a meaningful outdoor service filled with beautiful music and readings. And, of course, thanks to all who attended.
Please join us Friday, August 19 for our end of the summer annual Family Cookout and Service in the May Pavilion at Hudson Springs Park. We will welcome Robin Selinger back from Israel to join Rabbi Michael in leading this service. Details to follow next week.
