Sisterhood Shabbat: A Service of Inspiration and Sharing

Please join the Sisterhood on Friday, April 24, at 7:45 p.m., for our annual Sisterhood Shabbat and Oneg.

Our service will begin at 7:45 p.m. and will include readings from the Torah as well as traditional Shabbat prayers and observances.

Since this is a collaborative effort, please consider supporting this event by either serving as a reader (both English and Hebrew) and/or by donating a special treat for the Oneg to follow.

Lisa Singer (LisaSinger@aol.com) is coordinating the Sisterhood Shabbat. Please contact her to volunteer your time and talents!

Thank you for your support of Temple Beth Shalom and of our Sisterhood. We look forward to sharing this special evening with the congregation.

Sisterhood Cheesecake Raffle Scheduled for Friday, May 22nd

In conjunction with the TBS Shavuot observances, the Sisterhood will be hosting a special Cheesecake Raffle

Bakers will be asked to create two (2) cheesecakes–one for sampling during the tasting event and a second whole cheesecake which will go home with the winning raffle ticket holder.

Bakers, now is your time to be creative! More than that, we’re hoping that your written recipes will be shared! Also, please notate any food-specific aspects, such as gluten-free, sugar-free, nut-free, and so on.

Raffle tickets will be sold that evening for a dollar each or six for five dollars.

Prior to the Cheesecake Raffle, a Shavout Celebration dinner and program will be held at TBS beginning at 5:30 p.m. Shabbat services will begin at 7:45 p.m.

Cost for the dinner is $5.00 per guest or $18.00 per family.

Please ensure that your cheesecake donation is received at TBS no later than 7:00 p.m. on May 22nd.

For additional information regarding the Shavuot events, kindly contact Stefani Carlson, Education Director, at education@tbshudson.org.

Your tax-deductible donations and generous participation are greatly appreciated!

Mitzvah Day Is On The Way

Sunday, June 14th, has been designated for the 2015 community-based Mitzvah Day. As in the past, we are seeking volunteers to donate their time and talents at one of the community sites and programs included on the roster.

This is a day set aside for volunteers throughout our community to devote some time to bettering the lives of those who could use our help and support.

Jane Grover, TBS Social Action Chair, is coordinating this event. Please contact Jane at Jane.h.grover@gmail.com to sign-on as a volunteer or to learn about the participating community agencies and programs in need.

“The Fifth Question”

Congratulations to Len Rose for winning the “Matzo Math” contest! Len’s response to the question of how many matzo balls were prepared by Lisa and Rick Singer came closest to the actual amount–which was 135. Len guessed 128.

Your special gift is on its way to you, Len. Congratulations!

Yours in Sisterhood,
Emily Audra Fleisher
