Letter from Rabbi Ross

Rabbi Michael RossDear TBS Friends and Family,

Let go of the week and welcome the holiness of Shabbat this Friday at 7:30. We will discuss Jacob’s ladder and the idea of holiness in places. Where have you encountered holiness in a space or location?

Chanukah Shabbat Celebration – Bring Your Menorah & The Naming Ceremony for Brady Weinstein

Please join Rabbi Michael and Robin for our annual Chanukah Shabbat celebration, Friday, December 16 at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary. We’ll sing your Chanukah favorites and light our menorahs with the first night candle. Our Social Hall will be decorated for the holiday and a special Chanukah oneg will feature crispy latkes with apple sauce and sour cream, sufganiyot (jelly filled doughnuts), chocolate treats and more.

We will also be blessed to share in the naming ceremony for Casey and Amanda Weinstein’s son Brady, who will receive his Jewish name, Shai, which means Gift. Please wish the Weinstein’s and their extended family mazel tov in the Social Hall after services.

Prayer Lab – Sat. 12/10

Join us for our next Prayer Lab session next Saturday at 9:30! We will explore the songs of Pesukei Dezimra. We had an amazing turnout last time, and I look forward to this group growing and developing. Each session is independent, so folks can come and go as they need to and do not need to attend each session. Join us for bagels, great discussion, and some Torah Study about next week’s section, Vayishlach (the wrestling match!) These sessions will be multi-access: both in-person and via zoom.

Mitzvah Alert!!

This summer, a friend of mine collected feminine hygiene items for a charity and I put it in my mind that perhaps our Sisterhood could do a similar collection. I am requesting that anyone who is able to please bring feminine hygiene products to our Sisterhood Latke Fry event. I have reached out to two different charities-the Food Bank at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Hudson and North High School (our First Serve partnership has focused on this North Hill high school) to receive our donations. If you are unable to come to the Latke Fry, we still welcome your donation! I will collect items until December 11th. Any questions, please reach out to Kim Strausser kimstrausser@gmail.com.
